Persévérance Zinc Mine

Hatch is providing EPCM services for Xstrata's C$160-million Persévérance zinc mine in the Matagami region, 800 km north of Montreal. The zinc produced at the Persévérance mine will be processed at Falconbridge's former Lac Matagami mine facilities. The annual production of 228,000 tonnes of zinc concentrate will likely be shipped to, and processed at, the CEZinc Refinery in Valleyfield, Quebec, the second largest zinc refinery in North America. Construction will last about two years, with the mine's life expectancy estimated at roughly five years.
