400,000 tpa ilmenite smelting complex for treating beach sands at Richards Bay, South Africa. The end products are Sorelmetal (high purity pig iron) and a high titanium dioxide content slag. Facilities include: a roaster plant, a coal charring plant, a smelter with two, 6 electrode-in-line furnaces of 105 MVA rating each and a slag processing plant.
