QMP steel powders plant

Control of a steel powder making facility, including ladle furnace, flash dryer, high pressure/high volume pumping systems, annealing furnace, milling, and materials handling systems.  Utilized Foxboro SMS DCS and A/B PLC equipment.

Scope of Services:
All engineering phases involved in implementing the system from equipment specification and selection to post start-up support.  Effort also included PC based process simulator for operator training and system testing.

Project Highlights:

• New process from prototype process.  Highly automated facility
• 12 Man-years
• 3400 I/O included simulation of critical process areas and new process scaled up from prototype
