Melt Shop & Caster Complex
The melt shop comprises one 75-ton K-OBM furnace with fume and dust collection system and a four-strand billet/bloom caster. All buildings and auxiliary facilities were included within the project scope.
Scope of Services:
Feasibility study, complete engineering design, project and construction management, leading to assistance during commissioning and start-up.
Project Highlights:
- Furnace equipped with bottom oxygen and lime injection and post-combustion sidewall tuyeres
- Vessel exchange system designed to minimize reline downtime. (System unique in North America)
- Modern process control - level 1 PLC's and level 2 computer for heat and material balance
- Unique fume control system - combines full combustion primary system with secondary fume system prior to forced draft cooling and baghouse dust collection
